For more than 25 years, Jamie Baskerville Martin has provided strategic counsel to a wide range of health care providers, including hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, specialty and outpatient surgical hospitals, imaging centers, physicians and physician groups and joint venture entities.
The chair of Williams Mullen’s Health Care Section, Jamie combines her experience with an extensive understanding of the health care marketplace to provide practical advice on transactions, operational issues and regulatory compliance. For many health care clients, she effectively serves as outside general counsel, representing them in both strategic and day-to-day matters and coordinating with colleagues in a wide range of practice areas, including employment law, real estate, employee benefits, litigation and tax matters.
She also works hand-in-hand with in-house counsel on specialized regulatory and transactional matters. She assists clients in evaluating and pursuing mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other relationships, and strategically assessing the challenges and opportunities presented by various state and federal regulations. Jamie has particular knowledge of Certificate of Public Need (COPN) and licensure issues; Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute matters; and complex transactions among health care providers, including the antitrust elements of such transactions.
Martindale-Hubbell has rated Jamie an AV preeminent attorney, its highest rating available. She has been named among Virginia’s “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business magazine every year since 2003 and listed in Virginia Super Lawyers magazine every year since 2006.
