Williams Mullen is pleased to announce that Ed White and Janet Cho have joined the firm as partners in the Intellectual Property Section. Both formerly worked at LeClairRyan, where Mr. White served as co-leader of the Intellectual Property Practice Team.
Mr. White and Ms. Cho focus their practices on intellectual property matters related to domestic and international brand management. They counsel clients on a myriad of matters related to branding, including the clearance, registration, maintenance and acquisition of intellectual property assets. Ed and Janet also advise clients on trademark, trade dress and copyright infringement and enforcement; false advertising and unfair competition; brand monitoring and anti-counterfeiting; technology licensing agreements; and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. White is also recognized in Chambers USA for Intellectual Property Law (2012-present) and in The Best Lawyers in America© for Copyright Law; Litigation – Intellectual Property; and Trademark Law (2015-present). He was named the Best Lawyers® Richmond “Lawyer of the Year” for Trademark Law in 2018 and the Best Lawyers® Richmond “Lawyer of the Year” for Copyright Law in 2016.
He is a past member of the board of the directors of the Virginia State Bar’s Intellectual Property Section and a past president of the Greater Richmond Intellectual Property Law Association. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University.
Ms. Cho currently serves as president of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association’s Richmond Chapter. She is a council member for the Virginia Bar Association’s IP Section, and she is a past president of the Greater Richmond Intellectual Property Law Association. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law, a Master of Arts Degree in rehabilitation counseling from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.
