Zach’s practice is focused on all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, with a primary focus on the purchase and sale of developed and undeveloped real estate and the negotiation of related real estate financings, including real estate investment trust, tenant in common and Delaware statutory trust transactions; conduit lending; construction and development loans; refinancing; and loan workouts. In addition, Zach has represented clients in commercial development and leasing projects including office and retail properties on behalf of landlords, tenants, developers, lenders and borrowers, and planned development–related work on behalf of local and national property developers. Zach’s recent transactions include the representation of a borrower in a multi-property commercial mortgage-backed security syndication, the buyer in the acquisition of multiple medical office building portfolios, a REIT in the acquisition of retail and office properties, DST buyers in the acquisition of office buildings containing AAA-rated tenants, and a developer in the acquisition and development of hotel properties throughout North America, including the negotiation of hotel management agreements for over 150 locations.
Zach has experience working through the complex issues that arise in connection with the acquisition, financing, management and disposition of office, retail, medical office building and multifamily properties. His experience includes reviewing, drafting and negotiating leases and lease enforcement, including landlord/tenant matters, loan workouts and restructuring, conduit loans, and 1031 tax-deferred exchanges. In 2011 and 2012, he was recognized as a Virginia Super Lawyers “Rising Star.”
