Walt frequently represents clients dealing with the governance of closely held companies and both their investment and borrowing relationships with all manner of stakeholders. Walt also has proficiency in handling regulatory and administrative compliance matters, including matters before professional licensing boards, agencies and commissions.

Walt has personal experience developing and financing real property and is adept at handling disputes concerning complex agreements to govern, purchase, sell, finance, and dissolve business ventures.

Prior to joining Williams Mullen, Walt served as principal outside counsel to Wake Technical Community College and Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy. His current and prior non-profit board service includes Wake Tech Foundation, Wake Education Partnership, and Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

Walt was included in The Best Lawyers in America® (2013-present), named to Business North Carolina’s “Legal Elite” for Construction Law (2013-2021), inducted into the Construction Lawyers Society of America (2018-present), and has an “AV”-Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law and his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also certified as a North Carolina Superior Court Mediator.
