Since graduating law school in 2004, Maggie Krantz has focused her practice on representing health care providers. She represents a wide range of providers — including health care systems, academic medical centers, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, freestanding diagnostic imaging facilities, physician groups, and individual physicians — in state and federal regulatory matters.

Maggie routinely advises clients on Virginia Certificate of Public Need (COPN) matters, from COPN strategy development to navigating the COPN review process (whether as an applicant, a party seeking good cause status in the review of a COPN project, or an interested party) to post-approval issues such as compliance with charity care conditions.

Maggie also assists clients with a variety of other state and federal health care regulations including licensure, registration, and certification. She counsels clients in developing effective strategies to ensure compliance with the Medicare certification requirements, provider-based guidelines, space sharing rules, and billing and reimbursement regulations.

She also helps clients navigate the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, and other health care fraud and abuse prohibitions. In addition, Maggie provides advice to clients in health care employment arrangements, professional service arrangements, and many other corporate matters.

A native of Poland, Maggie is fluent in Polish and German. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. She received a Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, from Christopher Newport University.
